MA Innovation Management students took to Clerkenwell Design Week to ask the creative and professional community to overturn the way they think about innovation.

By partnering with Allermuir showrooms in Northburgh street, they were able to offer visitors an interactive innovation personality quiz, which challenged the way they thought about their job role.

Devised by a group of innovation researchers with a background in psychology, the results of the quiz involved three carefully selected themes – People, Bridges, and Models, which correspond to the research clusters of MA Innovation Management 2012.

Over 425 participants with the most varied backgrounds completed the quiz over three days. Their job roles ranged from Product Designers to Marketing Directors and a whopping 50% (215 respondents) fit into the Bridges category. The People, Models and the ‘in-betweens’ spread evenly with each taking around 10% respectively. Findings showed designers and creative practitioners have a bigger tendency toward the Bridges category, while managers and business practitioners tend to be People and Models type innovators.

To take the quiz yourself and find out if you’re a Bridge or a People innovator, stay tuned for the on-line version to be launched on our website shortly.

Following the completion of the quiz participants were invited to take a photo demonstrating their quiz results, which were later shared on Instagram.

This interactive experience was the first in a series of events run by MA Innovation Management, which will culminate on 19th June, 2012. The final event, Overturn: Embracing Obstacles and Finding Alternatives will be held at the prestigious new headquarters of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in the LVMH lecture theatre. This event will bring together researchers and innovation practitioners to spark conversation about overturning the way we think about innovation, its obstacles and its possibilities.
